Do I need to meet all of the admissions requirements to take courses through the Academy?
The Academy Program is available to students who have had the highest level of success in high school. Therefore, students must meet the high school class rank or grade point requirement, as well as the ACT or SAT score requirements.
Can I be admitted if I haven't yet taken a standardized test?
No, a student must submit scores from at least one of these tests: ACT, SAT, PSAT or PLAN.
Will you accept other tests scores if I don't have an ACT or SAT?
We only accept the standardized test scores that apply to college admissions, specifically the ACT, SAT, PSAT or PLAN.
Am I guaranteed admission to Ohio State after I graduate from high school if I am admitted to the Academy?
No, students who are enrolled in the Academy must still submit an application for admission if you would like to attend Ohio State after graduating from high school. However, Academy students applying as degree-seeking students do not need to re-pay an application fee for up to 3 terms. Students applying as degree-seeking students must have official test scores sent directly from the testing agency (The College Board or ACT) to Ohio State. Please note that Ohio State does require the writing section of the ACT for admission as a degree-seeking student.
Home-school students
Can students who are home-schooled participate in the Academy?
State Legislation does not permit home-school students to participate in the Post Secondary Enrollment Option Program Option B. Option B is the option to receive both high school and college credit, at the expense of the local school district.
Ohio State will allow home-school students to participate through Option A, receiving college credit. Option A requires the family to pay the costs of participating in the program.
Will my local school district pay for a home-school student to take course through the Academy?
You should check with your local school district to learn about their policies for home-school students.
Can I participate if I go to an independent high school or a charter school?
Students who are enrolled in private high schools, independent high schools, and charter high schools are able to participate in Post Secondary Enrollment Options Program Option B. See your high school counselor or school administrator to start the process.
Do I need transcripts if I am a home-school student?
Yes, all students need to submit a transcript that lists the courses taken and the grades and credit received for each course.
Course scheduling
Can I take any course that Ohio State offers through the Academy?
You need to have course work completed in the subject area before you can take courses in that subject through the Academy.

You also need to meet course pre-requisites, e.g. math placement scores for a math or science course.
Am I guaranteed the course that I want to take if I am admitted?
Academy students are not guaranteed enrollment in a specific course. Students may not be able to enroll in courses for a variety of reasons, including:
A course may not be offered every semester.
A course does not fit into a student's schedule.
The class may be full.
The class may be restricted to students in a particular major.
How do I know what classes are offered at Ohio State?
Explore the Course Catalog: Go to buckeyelink.osu.edu and look under Academics.
How do I know if the class I want is offered when I would like to enroll?
Search the Schedule of Classes: Go to buckeyelink.osu.edu and look under Academics. Note: The Schedule of Classes does not show future term classes. You can look at current or past schedules to see what classes are generally offered in a specific term.
Do I have to take courses every semester?
The Academy program is voluntary, so you can take courses when it is convenient for you. You can take a semester off, take classes for just one semester, etc.
Do I have to start autumn semester?
No, you can start either autumn or spring semester under Option B. Under Option A, you can start any term.
PSEOP and Ohio State
I'm participating in Post Secondary through another college. Will my credit transfer to Ohio State?
Yes, students who have participated in the Post Secondary Enrollment Options Program or other forms of Dual Enrollment programs may receive transfer credit upon enrollment at The Ohio State University. Check transfer.org for more information.
Will my Ohio State Academy credit transfer if I enroll at another college or university after graduating from high school?
This will be determined by the college you plan to attend after high school. You can find transfer information for many Ohio schools at transfer.org.
How will PSEOP or Dual Enrollment credit be considered in the selective admissions process?
Admission to the Columbus Campus is very selective. Students who apply should take the most rigorous schedule available that fits their academic ability. We recommend that students exceed the minimum college prep curriculum, especially in the areas of Math, Natural Science and Foreign Language. Are there any fees that Academy Option B students pay?
There are two fees you will need to pay:

Parking Permit (Columbus campus only)
Are books covered through Option B?
You will receive your books free of charge. We do require that you return the books at the end of the semester.
Can I take free classes through Option B in the summer?
No, Option B is not available during summer term.
Can I live on campus as an Academy Student?
No. Academy students must commute from the home of a parent or legal guardian.
How will the classes I take through the Academy transfer?
This will be determined by the college you plan to attend after high school. You can find transfer information for many Ohio schools at transfer.org.
Does my Academy GPA stay with me if I go to a different school?
This may depend on the college you attend after high school, but generally your grades do not transfer.
Can I get football tickets? Can I participate in clubs or intramural sports?
You are not eligible to purchase football tickets. You also are not eligible to pledge a fraternity or sorority. You can participate in other on-campus activities.
Can I use the recreation facilities at Ohio State?
